Community Resilience Program

"Please note that the Enable Program has had to adapt to Public Health Orders around Covid-19 and as such, it may change between online and in-person activities. We thank you for your understanding and patience!"

Program Eligibility: Newcomers, Immigrants, Refugees, Canadian citizens (please refer to specific programs for unique eligibility requirements)

Program Description:

The Community Resilience Program includes various projects that support newcomer children, youth, self-identifying women, and seniors in Victoria, BC. Our services are designed to address newcomers’ academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs as they transition into Canadian society. Across all areas, we use holistic, client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive approaches to meet individuals where they are in life and to provide opportunities for them to strengthen their sense of identity, belonging, and community.

Digital Literacy for BIPOC Seniors (55+)

The Newcomers Seniors Empowerment Program is a new initiative developed to support older adults in building digital literacy, increasing community engagement, and fostering independence in an increasingly technology-based world. This program is made possible through generous funding from the District of Saanich and is coordinated by VIRCS.

The program is designed to empower seniors by teaching them how to navigate digital platforms confidently ranging from basic smartphone use to accessing online health services and government information. We also aim to reduce social isolation and enhance community connectedness through both virtual and in-person events.
