“Here I Stand”
"Here I Stand" is a collage of scenes and images created by a group of 11 immigrant and refugee youth from over 6 different countries. Stories are inspired by real life experiences. Topics include: immigration, transition, self-identity, settlement barriers, diversity within the school and change within the home. The performance includes live music and is followed by an interactive workshop and discussion with audience members. Scenes are broken down and characters are explored on a deeper level so as to better understand newcomer youth and the ways in which the community can better support them. “Here I Stand” had it’s opening show on January 15th and is open to performing for interested community groups, schools and/or educators.
